This navy and cream houndstooth jacket was given to us by Jessie Tucker, mother of Shona Tucker (Associate Professor of Drama). Jessie Tucker and her husband chose to marry on her lunch hour from work, on January 29th, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois. After their nuptials were exchanged, Mrs. Tucker returned to work while Mr. Tucker decided to take in a movie while waiting for his new bride to finish her workday.
The skirt worn with the jacket is not Ms. Tucker’s original skirt, but has been chosen from our theatrical stock to display with the jacket.
- Kenisha Kelly (Visiting Assistant Professor of Drama)
“We met on our lunch hour and my husband-to-be came. After we married, my lunch hour was already taken up, I went back to work. And my girlfriends went back to work too, so we didn’t even take time for lunch.” - Jessie Tucker, mother of Shona Tucker (Associate Professor of Drama and Director of Theater)
