Peggy Cheng (Vassar class of 1993) wore this dress for her wedding to Chris Morrow (also Vassar class of 1993) on July 1, 2006, in Philadelphia at Bartram's Garden.

“In keeping with Chinese tradition, my dress was a red silk dress.  It had gold embroidery, and was sent to me by my mother from Taiwan. She selected the fabric and had it made, with some measurements she took from me over the phone. Once I received it I got it altered a bit, but otherwise it's exactly the dress she sent. I think she sent one sketch of what she thought it would look like (the neck, length, shape, etc.).  Chris just wore a nice summer suit!”

“Chris, of Jewish (mother) and Irish (father) heritage, and I (Chinese/Taiwanese) decided to have a mix of 'traditional' wedding ceremony practices. There was a tea ceremony (Chinese), breaking the glass (Jewish), and our invitation, which was designed by a good friend, paid homage to the Irish with a Celtic symbol. Chris grew up going to a Unitarian Church in Philadelphia - so our officiant was the minister from that church. We had the wedding in Philadelphia so that Chris's grandmother (now 101 years old!) would not have to travel far to attend.”
