Below are two photos from my wedding day, both taken at the Chapel.
My dress was made from silk duppioni and chiffon imported from France, and the most important fact about my dress is that my Mother made it! She is a skilled seamstress and does beautiful needlework.
The sleeves and train were all handrolled and stitched from gossamer silk chiffon.
I remember that dress and that day with great fondness. ... the magnificent architecture, the sounds of the venerable organ and a most excellent bridegroom who has continued to be a most excellent husband!

Jayne Mellenthin Rogers Class of 1973

I remember that dress and that day with great fondness. ... the magnificent architecture, the sounds of the venerable organ and a most excellent bridegroom who has continued to be a most excellent husband!

Jayne Mellenthin Rogers Class of 1973

<text>from the donor: "For my wedding on July 14, 2012, I wore a dress made by my sister, Ellen Adams '98. When I started planning my wedding, I knew I wanted a historical dress but not too costumey, because my wedding was not period. One of my favorite time periods is the late 18th century, so this dress pattern from the 1780s ended up being perfect, especially since my (French) husband and I got married on Bastille Day! My sister (my maid of honor, pictured next to me in the gray dress) is a very talented seamstress, evidently, and she did a fantastic job on this dress. It was very special to wear such a unique dress made with love and care by my sister. The wedding took place in Pittsburgh, PA, and all photos are by Emily O'Donnell.

Best,

Best,
Karen Adams '03"</text>

According to a newspaper clipping, the dress was of ivory peau de feuille. I chose a simple dress because of the rather elaborate head piece with its the veil of silk illusion and lace, loaned by a dear friend. The wedding, held in an Episcopal church in Fairfield, CT, was very traditional with bridesmaids and ushers, followed by a reception at the hunt club. It was very similar to the weddings of my friends, Vassar and others. I am posing with my father, John Chapman.

You may use the photo if you wish. It sounds like a fun project.

              <text>from the donor: "Hi!

I met my husband, Owen Wiles ('07) at Vassar, so it was only natural that we should get married on campus (7/16/11). Our wedding party was nearly half Vassar alums, and one in particular, Margaret Files ('08) was instrumental in helping me find my wedding apparel. She combed the internet looking for dresses that had the elements I wanted (and she helped me figure out exactly what it was that I wanted), but in the end, we couldn't find the perfect dress, so I went to Mika Inatome and had one custom made. It was a lot of fun to watch Mika bring my ideas to life, from sketch to finished dress!

My husband decided he wanted all the men in seersucker suits, and not wanting to miss out on the custom clothing fun, he went with both of our fathers to have his suit made-to-measure at My.Suit. From there, the rest of the details fell into place - sunflowers, lilac dresses for the bridesmaids, yellow knit ties for the groomsmen, and yellow dresses with adorable flower headbands for the flower girls. We also got fun hats and parasols involved for some pictures. Owen chose white bucks because apparently that's what you wear with seersucker, and I picked purple shoes (actually Margaret found them for me) for a pop of color.

I included several pictures taken on campus (Shakespeare Garden and Chapel). The picture outside of the chapel includes all the Vassar alums (and one current professor, Jennifer Walter) who were in attendance, they span many years! I, of course, have many more (and higher quality) pictures, but I didn't want to overwhelm you, so just let me know if you want anything else.

Cheers,
Nikki (Rosard) Wiles, '08"</text>
