The bodice, sleeves, and collar are made of a silk chiffon with green, red, and purple floral print and decorated with cream lace and embroidered polka dots. There are four layers of lace at the base of the sleeves and white embroidered flowers on the collar. It is made of two+ layers of gauze and lace (varies by area) with white satin appliqués on the skirt, bodice, waistband and back, and other decorations such as tassels. The dress closes with hooks and eyes in the back, and a heavy gold-tone belt buckle is attached to the waistband. The gauze has some rips in it, and contained the remains of many bugs and larvae that had presumably moved in to the dress, lived out their days and died there. I extracted as many of these as I could find.
